Vision and Goals
Biology is a natural science that studies life and living organisms. The aim of biology education is to provide knowledge on the physical structures, chemical compositions, functions of organs and systems, and evolution theory of living beings. In this course, our students have the opportunity to examine biological structures at the molecular, cellular, and microbiological levels. Applied laboratory studies, including cellular biology, genetics and biotechnology, evolution, and ecology, help students understand biological themes.
After the basic biology course learned in grades 6, 7, and 8 in Science classes, students can choose the IGCSE Biology program according to their preferences in grades 9 and 10. For students planning to continue with science subjects, our A-Level program is available in grades 11 and 12.
Our Vision
To educate students who know, respect, and are aware of the needs of living creatures on earth, and are aware of environmental problems such as climate crisis.
Our Goals and Values
- To improve our students' scientific thinking, reading, writing, and arithmetic skills throughout the academic year,
- To provide the ability to use biology knowledge and applications in daily life,
- To enable effective participation in biology and science-related discussions.
- To encourage generating new ideas using the knowledge, skills, and competencies gained in biology courses,
- To aim for students to become individuals who research, think critically, collaborate, solve problems, question, produce, and are willing to learn science throughout their lives.
Curriculum
11th and 12th Grades
The Edexcel International A level (iAL) exam, which covers the laws, theories, models, and practical applications of biology, is designed to be completed over two years covering 11th and 12th grades. A curriculum that includes AS topics is followed in 11th grade, while a curriculum that includes A2 topics is followed in 12th grade. Biology classes are taught for a total of 8 hours per week.
Students who take the Unit 1, 2, and 3 exams in 11th grade, and the Unit 4, 5, and 6 exams in 12th grade, have their Biology A Level grade calculated by adding up the total of the 6 exams taken over two years and given an evaluation score between A and U.

Resources
Our school has a fully equipped Biology laboratory. The topics covered in class are enriched with experiments, allowing our students to learn through hands-on experience and retain knowledge more effectively. Additionally, our full-time laboratory technician is always present during laboratory classes, providing us with the opportunity to give our students more detailed attention. We also have numerous models that can be taken to the classroom for examination and animations that we use during lessons to provide our students with a visually rich teaching experience and make the lessons more enjoyable.
